Somersfield To Host 5K Fun Run On Sunday
Somersfield Academy will host its second annual 5K Fun Run on Sunday [Sept 28] and said “this year promises to be even bigger and better thanks to the strength of the Somersfield community.”
A spokesperson said, “The Fun Run is more than a race, it’s a celebration of fitness, family fun, and community spirit, all while raising funds to support Somersfield’s growing athletics and physical education programmes.
“Building on the success of last year’s event, which drew nearly 300 participants, this year introduces a new highlight: custom Somersfield medals for top finishers, generously sponsored by an anonymous founding family with deep ties to Bermuda’s sporting community.”
The family said: “It is our pleasure to contribute for the medals. We are proud supporters of all things sport and very excited Somersfield is rolling out so many amazing sporting opportunities for the kids.”
A spokesperson added, “Somersfield has also welcomed dedicated parent volunteers Jo-Rena Davis and Vivienne Lochhead, as the new Volunteer Coordinator and Race Director [respectively] for the Fun Run.”
Davis, who has combined her love of running with her commitment to giving back, said: “Our family had such a great time participating last year that I knew I wanted to help make it happen again. The Fun Run is about more than just running, it’s about coming together as a school and as a community to support our students.”
David Lunn, Alumni and Event Organiser said: “The Fun Run reflects the best of Somersfield: families, alumni, local businesses, and volunteers coming together for the benefit of our students. We’re grateful to everyone who has stepped forward to ensure this year’s event is even more memorable.”
A spokesperson added, “The event will feature a 5K run/walk, a 1-mile run, and a 400m dash for younger participants, ensuring that every age and fitness level has a way to join in.
