Mother And Daughter Impress In Triathlon

Mother and daughter Julia and Erica Hawley both impressed at international triathlons in Wollongong, Australia, just days apart.

Erica, who represented Bermuda at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, finished 28th in the World Triathlon Elite Championship Final, completing the challenging Cove Beach course in 2hr 1min 38sec.

Her performance followed closely on the heels of her mother, Julia, who placed fifth in the 60-64 female category at the World Triathlon Age-Group Aquabike Championships just days earlier.

She posted a time of 1hr 49min 1sec.

Erica, who has also competed at the Commonwealth and Pan American Games, has clearly inherited her mother’s competitive drive.

Julia, a cyclist at the 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games, also excelled in triathlon, finishing fourteenth in her age group at the 2009 Hawaii Ironman World Championship and fourth in her division at the 2014 Xterra World Championship in Hawaii.
