Photos: Pickleballers Win Medals In US
Bermuda’s pickleball team won seven medals on day one of the pre-World Cup event at The Fort, Fort Lauderdale, in Florida, yesterday [October 28].
Patricia Mills and Melisa Judd won bronze in the women’s doubles 4.0 [age 35-plus]; Sarah Fox and Sue Chiappa claimed gold in the women’s doubles 3.5 [age 65-plus]; Tori Powell and Val Stevenson secured silver in the women’s doubles 3.5 [age 50-plus]; and John Singleton won silver in the men’s singles 3.5 [age 35-plus].
Bermuda, the reigning Caribbean champions, have sent 17 players, plus a non-playing captain and coach, to the World Cup, which runs from tomorrow [October 30] until November 2.
More than 60 nations are competing in the second World Cup. Bermuda have been drawn in a group with Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Bosnia, with the top two teams advancing to the knockout stage.
