Nahki Wells’ Luton Sack Manager Bloomfield
Nahki Wells’s Luton Town have parted ways with manager Matt Bloomfield, with the club sitting eleventh in Sky Bet League One after an away defeat to Stevenage at the weekend.
Bloomfield took charge in January, leaving Wycombe Wanderers, who were in a League One promotion position at the time, to replace Rob Edwards at Kenilworth Road.
However, he was unable to prevent Luton from suffering a second consecutive relegation, as they finished 22nd in the Championship, going down on goal difference.
A club statement said: “Performances and results from the opening 11 matches of the current campaign in League One have fallen below the levels expected.”
Former Luton midfielder Alex Lawless, who is part of the club’s academy setup, has been placed in interim charge ahead of today’s EFL Trophy fixture away to Cambridge United [October 7].
Wells joined Luton from Championship side Bristol City last summer.
