“Suspected Controlled Drugs” Washed Ashore
The Bermuda Police Service is “currently investigating the discovery of multiple packages of suspected controlled drugs that have washed ashore along various areas of Bermuda’s coastline.”
A police spokesperson said, “Recently, the BPS received several reports from members of the public regarding suspicious packages found floating in the water and along the shoreline.
“Responding officers from police Community Patrol Officers, the Coast Guard, and the Drugs Unit attended the scenes and recovered the packages, which have since been seized and secured as evidence.
“Preliminary examination suggests that the contents are consistent with illegal narcotics. The packages will undergo forensic testing to confirm their composition and origin.”
Detective Chief Inspector Jason Smith, head of the BPS Drugs Unit, said, “We are actively investigating how these packages came to be in Bermuda’s waters and whether they are linked to any maritime activity or regional drug trafficking operations. We are liaising with our local and international partners to determine the source and potential destination of these drugs.”
The police spokesperson said, “Members of the public are advised not to touch, move, or open any suspicious packages found on the beach or in the water. Instead, you should immediately call the main police number on 295-0011, the non-emergency reporting number on 211, or via the BPS Community Reporting Portal. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers Bermuda at 800-8477.
“The investigation remains ongoing and further updates will be provided as appropriate.”

Well, if the packages washed ashore, they were obviously uncontrolled.
Any news on volunteers helping to locate similar packages?
Or not controllable.
Irony.
It isn’t the responsibility of the general public to form search groups to retrieve packages washed ashore.
Trump has been sinking many drug boats so is it any wonder that drugs have made the trip to Bermuda waters!
