Logan Jiménez Helps Hibernian U19 Advance
Bermudian footballer Logan Jiménez helped Hibernian Under-19 advance to the third round of the Uefa Youth League despite a 1-0 second-leg defeat to FC 2 Korriku in Kosovo on Wednesday [November 5].
Hibernian won the two-leg tie 4-1 on aggregate, having beaten Korriku 4-0 at Easter Road last month.
They qualified for Europe’s elite youth tournament after winning the CAS Elite Under-18 League last season.
Forty teams – including Aston Villa, AZ Alkmaar and Dynamo Kyiv – participated in the second round of the competition, playing home-and-away ties.
Advancing beyond the third round would see Hibernian join up with teams playing in the Uefa Champions League path of the Youth League as the two pathways merge to begin the knockout stages of the competition.
Jiménez, who can play in defence or attack, has been called up by the Bermuda national team for the first time for their Concacaf World Cup qualifiers against Curaçao at home on November 13 and Trinidad & Tobago away on November 18.
