BNT Christmas Walkabout On December 5
The Bermuda National Trust Christmas Walkabout will be held on December 5 with historic tours, live music, festive treats, and holiday activities.
A spokesperson said, “St George’s will come alive with festive cheer on the evening of Friday, 5 December, as the Bermuda National Trust’s [BNT] beloved Christmas Walkabout welcomes residents and visitors to celebrate the start of the holiday season. Now in its 45th year, this treasured tradition offers a magical evening of history, culture, community, and entertainment in Bermuda’s UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Historic Homes Open to All
“Guests will have the rare opportunity to explore several beautifully decorated BNT historic homes – The Old Rectory, Bridge House, Buckingham, Reeve Court, and Stewart Hall – all open free of charge. At the Globe Museum, visitors can learn about Bermuda’s earliest settlers, discover current archaeological work, and admire intricate needlework by the Bermuda Guild of Stitchery. The museum’s gift shop, Trustworthy, will also be open, offering unique holiday gifts.
“Additional historic and cultural landmarks will welcome visitors throughout the town, including St. Peter’s Church, Mitchell House, Hannibal Lodge, Ebenezer Methodist Church, and Pilot Darrell House, among others.
Music, Shopping, and Festive Treats
“Live entertainment from musicians and dancers will fill King’s Square, creating a lively, festive atmosphere. Shops across St George’s will stay open late, making the evening an ideal chance to get a head start on Christmas shopping.
“Food vendors in King’s Square will serve a variety of seasonal treats, including favourites from Four Star Pizza, Ashley’s Lemonade, Funnelicious, Hot Dog Delight, and Bermuda Cupcake Company. For festive beverages, Gosling’s will host two pop-up cocktail bars—one at Tucker House and another in the Globe Museum garden.
A Community Effort
“The Walkabout is made possible thanks to the generous support of sponsors, especially Gold Sponsor Butterfield Bank. Additional sponsors include HSBC, Gosling’s, Butterfield & Vallis, The Corporation of St George’s, BELCO, BEDC, and the Department of Culture.
“BNT extends its sincere appreciation to the many tenants who open their homes and to the dedicated volunteers whose contributions ensure the event’s continued success.
“For the third year, BNT is partnering with Butterfield Bank’s “Toys for Tots” programme. Attendees are encouraged to bring unwrapped toy donations, which can be dropped off at designated collection points during the event.
Plan Your Visit
“To help manage traffic, no parking will be permitted in central St George’s, and on-street parking restrictions will be strictly enforced. Visitors are encouraged to park at Kindley Field, where free shuttle buses will run from 5:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Limited parking is available at St George’s Prep for a donation to the PTA, but will fill up early.
“Pre-paid parking at Tiger Bay/Penno’s Wharf is fully booked; only vehicles with valid tickets or Disabled Persons Parking Badges will be allowed entry.
“The Department of Marine and Ports invites the public to take advantage of a special ferry service for the Walkabout. The ferry will depart Albuoy’s Point at 5:15 pm, arrive in St. George’s at 6:15 pm, and return from St. George’s at 9:15 pm. Regular ferry tokens will be accepted for payment.
“For a full itinerary and event details, please review the Walkabout event flyer.
“With its perfect blend of history, culture, and holiday spirit, the Bermuda National Trust Walkabout promises to once again be a highlight of Bermuda’s festive season. Don’t miss this cherished community celebration in the heart of St. George’s.
