Terceira And McBrearty Compete In Florida
Bermudian juniors Lee Terceira and Chloe McBrearty competed at the 19th Annual “Little Mo” Internationals in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
The tournament featured more than 700 players from 65 countries.
Terceira opened her campaign in the Girls’ 12 and Under Singles with a match against Isabelle Prusinkiewicz, of Canada.
Terceira went down 6-4 in the first set but fought back to win the second set 6-2.
The match was decided in a third-set tie-breaker, where Terceira lost 10-6.
In the same division, McBrearty defeated Sowmya Varadharajan, of Canada, in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.
However, McBrearty’s run ended in the second round, where she lost in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, to Isabel Correa, of Venezuela.
Terceira entered the back draw, securing two victories against American opponents, first defeating Ainhoa Mudarra 6-0, 6-0 before beating Emily Shunko 6-1, 6-1.
In the semi-final, she beat Azah Gbugu 7-6, 6-4 to advance to the final.
Terceira was defeated by American Dominique in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, in the final.
