The WindReach Farm Shop held its grand opening yesterday [Dec 11], marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a visit from Governor Andrew Murdoch, as guests toured the new shop and joined the community in celebrating this meaningful milestone.
A spokesperson said, “The WindReach Farm Shop was officially opened by Executive Director, Kate Terceira who was joined by His Excellency, The Governor Andrew Murdoch, CMG on Thursday December 11th.
“The Farm Shop is dedicated to offering enriching experiences for individuals living with mild to profound support needs, which may include intellectual disabilities. Our main goal is that the Farm Shop will nurture a sense of community and belonging, encouraging social interactions and teamwork.
“By enabling individuals to contribute and see the fruits of their labor, WindReach Farm Shop will enhance confidence and independence, paving the way for self-expression and personal growth.
“Additionally, it will promote skill development and personal growth through activities such as horticulture, baking, crafts, and retail tasks. Participants will learn about planting, growing, harvesting, and producing retail items, while also gaining valuable customer service skills.”
