Betschart And West Compete On Lima Course
Bermuda’s Oliver Betschart shot a 3-over-par 73 in the opening round of the 2026 Latin America Amateur Championship at Lima Golf Club.
The 17-year-old finished the day tied for 32nd in the 107-player field. Betschart recorded back-to-back birdies on his opening holes and reached the turn at 1-under-par. He recorded four bogeys on the back nine to finish with three birdies, nine pars, and six bogeys.
The top 50 players and ties will advance to the final two rounds.
Fellow Bermudian Eric West, 42, made his debut in the event and carded a 9-over-par 79. West sits in a tie for 80th place. His round included two birdies, eight pars, five bogeys, and three double bogeys.
