Video: Francis Patton ‘Longtail Plunge’
[Written by Don Burgess]
The winter chill was no match for the heat of community spirit this morning as a courageous crowd gathered at the Francis Patton dock for the annual Longtail Plunge. With the ocean’s waters offering a bracing wake-up call,- the Bermuda Weather Service forecast had it at 67.1 degrees – students, parents, and dedicated supporters stripped down to their swimwear, all in the name of raising vital funds for the Francis Patton Parish School PTA.
This year’s Longtail Plunge saw an impressive turnout of local luminaries who weren’t afraid to get their hair wet for a good cause. Participants included the Minister of Youth, Social Development & Seniors, Tinée Furbert, who swapped her ministerial duties for a splash in the sea. Joining her in the chilly waters were former national cricketer and Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club president Stephen Outerbridge and the ever-energetic Fire Wayne. Crawl Hill Esso owner and OBA candidate for Constituency 6 Joe Marable took the plunge alongside PowerGirl Patrina Paynter, and Mr. Fotogenik, who gave one of his signature callouts.
The funds raised will go directly toward school initiatives and extracurricular activities for the students of Francis Patton.
