Swimmers Compete At Baylor Invitational
Bermudian swimmers turned in a series of strong performances at the 2026 Baylor High School Invitational, contributing to Baylor’s overall results against a competitive field and recording several personal best times.
In the girls’ events, Maggie Mewett placed third in the 50-yard freestyle and seventh in the 100-yard freestyle, with both swims marked as personal bests. She also swam on Baylor’s third-place 200-yard freestyle relay B team and the fourth-place 400-yard freestyle relay C team.
Violet Smith finished third in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall in a personal best tie of 58.95. She also placed fourth in the 200-yard individual medley with a personal best time of 2:19.03.
Katherine Wheddon earned two podium finishes, taking second place in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:19.19 and third in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.29. She was also a member of Baylor’s second-place 400-yard freestyle relay team, which recorded a time of 3:42.89.
In the boys’ competition, Connor Hupman was part of two winning relay teams, helping Baylor claim first place in the 200-yard medley relay A in 1:30.21 and the 200-yard freestyle relay A in 1:25.52. Individually, he placed third in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:42.44 and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke with a personal best time of 52.94.
Noah Maranzana finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.22 and third in the 50-yard freestyle with a personal best time of 22.11. He also swam means on the winning 200-yard freestyle relay A team, which clocked 1:25.52, and the second-place 400-yard freestyle relay B team, timed at 3:19.65.
Gabriel Maranzana also recorded consistent results, including personal best performances. He helped the 200-yard medley relay B team finish second in 1:38.83, placed third in the 100-yard freestyle and sixth in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.71, and swam on the third-place 200-yard freestyle relay team that posted a time of 1:31.75.
