B.O.O.K Daycare Hosts Bouncing For Acceptance
B.O.O.K Daycare came alive with joy and purpose as Bouncing For Acceptance celebrated inclusion, raised awareness, and supported BASE Bermuda, a charity that helped our family during our first educational displacement.
A spokesperson said, “B.O.O.K Daycare was filled with laughter, energy, and purpose as everyone gathered for Bouncing For Acceptance, a fun-filled event dedicated to raising awareness, promoting acceptance, and fundraising for BASE Bermuda, a charity that helped our family during our first Educational displacement.
“Children enjoyed an exciting lineup of bounce houses, inflatables, tasty treats, and engaging fidget toys — all thoughtfully planned to create a joyful and inclusive experience for everyone. Beyond the fun, the event carried a meaningful message of understanding and support for individuals and families like mine in the autism community.
“The initiative was put on in honor of Carter Philpott, by parents Ashley & Calvin Philpott, whose dedication and passion helped bring the event to life. Through community spirit and contributions, Bouncing For Acceptance successfully combined play with purpose, reminding everyone that acceptance begins with awareness — and that even the smallest voices can help make a difference.
“There is a ongoing need for greater awareness, understanding, and willingness within our community beyond the month of April. After a challenging start in the education system, our family faced uncertainty and discouragement. However, B.O.O.K Daycare — while not a special needs school — welcomed our son.
“Their efforts, dedication, and commitment to trying, learning, and supporting him gave our family something we desperately needed: hope and a sense of belonging and while it may not look the same for everyone for that, we are forever grateful.
“However, our story also highlights a much larger issue.
“There is a significant gap in the early years — particularly from toddlerhood to preschool — where families struggle to access the professional support and specialized education our children urgently need. Early intervention is critical, yet too many families are left navigating long waitlists, inconsistent services, staff turnover, and a lack of continuity that directly impacts their children’s development.
“This event is also a respectful but urgent call to our government to get it right.
“Multiple emails, calls, and enquiries are made. Promises are offered. Announcements are shared. Yet too often, families like mine get no response at all. Despite repeated public statements acknowledging the importance of early intervention and inclusive support, there remains a troubling gap between what is said and what is delivered.
“Our children are not statistics. They are not policy experiments. They are human beings with time-sensitive needs. They have gifts, interests, and talents. They deserve the same access to opportunity, stability, and support as any other child.
“Access to consistent therapies, educational services, and inclusive environments is not a privilege — it is a basic human necessity. At present, that necessity is not being reliably met.
“Bouncing For Acceptance was held not only as a celebration of inclusion, but as a reminder that awareness must lead to action. Our children matter.
“We would also like to thank Hotdog Delight, Dunkleys Dairy, Sweet & Sauvy, Patty Bakes and Ahmani’s Cookie Company for their generous donations for the event, with out them today was not possible.”
