Aries Athletes Win Two Medals In Brooklyn
Jui-Jitsu athletes from Aries Sports Centre won two medals at the recent Brooklyn Grappling Industries Event in New York.
Jonathan Trott won gold in his division with a dominant performance throughout his bracket.
His victory marks a triumphant return to overseas competition, his first since May 2022.
Aaron Lugo also delivered an impressive showing, battling through a competitive field to secure a second-place finish.
Lugo previously competed internationally last summer at the Pan American event hosted by the Jui-Jitsu World League.
The athletes were accompanied and coached by their instructor, Cyril Whitter III, who expressed pride in their achievements and effort.
“I am extremely proud of both Jonathan and AJ,” he told Bernews.
“Travelling overseas to compete requires commitment, courage, and focus.
“They represented Bermuda and Aries Sports Centre with professionalism and heart, and their results reflect the hard work they have put in on the mats.”
