Scott Barnes Claims Three Wins In Orlando
Scott Barnes was in superb form during the second round of the Rok Cup Florida Winter Tour in Orlando, Florida, at the weekend.
Barnes, who is competing in the full series for the first time in his career, won a heat race, the pre-final and final.
The Bermudian won a heat race and the pre-final before finishing second in the final in the opening round last month.
“After a disappointing round one, winning two of the three heats race and the pre-final, but having to settle for second in the final, we got the job done in round two, winning a heat race, the pre-final and the final!” Barnes said.
“Lead the whole finals race of the 14 minutes, plus two laps race, but spent a good ten minutes just running a defensive race.
“They say ‘It’s one thing to catch a driver, and another to pass him’ – I used my whole 30-year racing experience to make the kart as wide as possible and keep them behind me!
“Definitely a fun, clean, hard fought 18 lap Battle!”
The championship consists of three rounds, with the third at the Kartplex in Palmetto, Florida, from March 6 to 8.
Barnes, who races for Maranello Karts USA, is sponsored by Butterfield & Vallis, representing their Powerade brand, Simpsons Motorsports, and All Rise Limited.
