Live Video/Updates: Premier Burt Delivers Budget
Premier and Minister of Finance David Burt is delivering the 2026 Budget in the House of Assembly this morning [Feb 20]. We will have additional coverage later on and in the meantime the live video is below.

Ok. Can we use just 2M from that surpluse to purchase 8 portable classrooms for the new parish schools? That will allow room for students, and corriculum to include tech, science, etc. Order now and it should be done in time for school opening in Sept. And plenty of tume to hire new teachers.
MIC DROP!
This was an epic budget for our Premier and Finance Minister David Burt.
He didn’t just tick the boxes; he made sound financial decisions and silenced many of the critics, consciously addressing the issues!
Well done!
Difficult to tell if you’re wilfully this gullible.
If you actually read the contents of this budget, you’d be well aware that sound financial decisions were NOT made and that the issues will continue to persist long into the future. This budget is built on the illusion of structural reform and little else.
The public debt is still huge, exemplified by the $2.69 billion remaining public debt (still ~$42,000 per capita) receiving only a one-off repayment with zero further reduction planned beyond 2027, whilst simultaneously using CIT to justify permanent spending increases of 12.4%. In other words, that debt will continue to grow.
Try paying attention next time.
Reads like a child given free access to the candy store. $14m to schools – why?
$9.4m for a new swing bridge? Which bit as last estimate was around $25m, and what about replacing the Bailey bridge on the causeway?
This is a most dangerously flawed budget, relying almost totally on an unknown and unstable CIT.
