Bermudian filmmaker and screenwriter Sia Spence is hosting a three-day acting masterclass aimed at providing industry-standard training for aspiring actors and filmmakers.

The Frames for the Future Acting Masterclass Weekend runs from Friday [February 6] to Sunday and will be held at Ignite Bermuda.

It is designed to support youngters and adults interested in film and television and to improve understanding of the actor–director process.

The programme opens on Friday with a youth acting workshop for participants aged 12 to 17, followed by a two-day adult intensive on Saturday and Sunday for participants aged 18 and over.

The weekend will conclude with a panel discussion focused on professional pathways in the screen industry.

Training will cover acting for the camera, audition techniques, scene work, script analysis, professional set etiquette and the working relationship between actors and directors on film and television productions.

The masterclasses are led by Spence, founder of Frames for the Future, alongside American actress and filmmaker Patrice Fisher, whose credits include Saints & Sinners, The Family Business, How High and Charmed.

Fisher will travel to Bermuda for the programme as part of a planned collaboration between local and international creatives.

Spence has written a feature film set in Bermuda and has said that developing local talent is central to ensuring Bermudians are represented both in front of and behind the camera in future projects.

The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport and the Bermuda Tourism Authority.

It also partners with G.I.F.T.E.D. [Girls in Film, Technology, Entertainment & Design], a non-profit organisation focused on expanding access to creative education for young girls.

A portion of the proceeds from the masterclass will support continued educational initiatives.

Registration remains open for both the youth workshop and adult intensive, with organisers noting that financial assistance is available to help ensure access.
