Tennis: Tobiah Goodchild Competes In Miami
Bermudian tennis player Tobiah Goodchild, 16, reached the Men’s Open Singles semi-finals at the Miami Championships held at the Royal Palm Tennis Club in Florida.
Competing in a UTR 9.0 field on red clay, Goodchild defeated Tommy Wey 6-2, 6-1 in the round of 16. In the quarter-finals, Goodchild advanced after Mateo Borges retired due to injury with the score at 6-3, 1-0 in Goodchild’s favor.
Goodchild was eliminated in the semi-finals, losing 6-3, 6-0 to Yannick Ulrich of Germany.
In the Men’s Open Doubles quarter-finals, Goodchild and American partner Maximo Gomez lost 8-1 to the American team of Francisco Montana and Bernard Tefel.
