Bermuda’s Daniel Phillips played a key role as Tulane University edged the University of New Mexico 4–3 in a tightly contested tennis match.

Phillips, competing at the top of the doubles lineup with partner Lance Nisbet, helped set the tone early. The pair faced New Mexico’s Jakub Prachar and Alberto Perez in a closely fought set that went to a tie-break. Phillips and Nisbet prevailed 7–6, giving Tulane crucial momentum heading into the singles matches.

In singles, Phillips faced Dario Ciobotaru at the number one spot. Despite Ciobotaru’s ITF singles ranking of 1948, Phillips dominated the opening set with strong baseline play and a high first-serve percentage, winning 6–1. The second set was more competitive, but Phillips maintained composure to close out the match 6–1, 6–3, earning a key point for Tulane.

Phillips’ performances in both doubles and singles proved decisive in the overall 4–3 victory, contributing to Tulane’s ongoing climb in the collegiate tennis rankings.
