Olympic Body Leads Plastic Clean-Up Drive
The Bermuda Olympic Association, in partnership with Keep Bermuda Beautiful, will host a national plastic clean-up as part of a wider Commonwealth initiative to combat ocean pollution.
The event, scheduled for April 26, is part of a global relay of clean-ups taking place across Commonwealth countries and territories in support of the Commonwealth Clean Oceans Plastics Campaign.
Volunteers will gather from 12pm to 4pm at the Walsingham Trust Reserve, located across from Blue Hole Park, to collect plastic waste and other debris from the surrounding environment.
Keep Bermuda Beautiful, which will lead the clean-up effort on the ground, said the initiative aims to raise awareness of plastic pollution while encouraging community involvement in environmental protection.
Gloves, bags and other supplies will be provided, with participants encouraged to register in advance.
The event highlights the role of sport and community organisations in promoting sustainability and collective action on environmental challenges across the Commonwealth.
The Commonwealth Games will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, this summer.
