Cobras Claim BYB League Championship Title
The Cobras capped a dominant season with a commanding 53-29 victory over the Bulldogs to win the 2026 Bermuda Youth Basketball [BYB] League Championship at MSA Gymnasium.
A spokesperson said, “BYB League Championship action tipped off this past Saturday afternoon at MSA Gymnasium. The Bulldogs making their second straight finals appearance faced the Cobras, who controlled the season from the start with an impressive 10-0 run and finished with the #1 seed.
“The game opened cautiously, with both teams feeling each other out. Once the moment settled, the Cobras flipped the switch. Led by their guards, the game became a track meet, pushing the pace, attacking the rim, and dictating tempo.
“The Bulldogs struggled to respond. Cold shooting haunted them all game as they managed just 21% from the field. Despite crashing the boards for extra opportunities, they could not generate enough offense to keep up.
“As the Cobras lead stretched past 20, any hopes of a comeback was quickly, shut down. The Cobras defense tightened, and their control on the game never wavered.
“Christian Hanwell led the Bulldogs with 9pts on 2 for 6 shooting from behind the arc, while Troy Washington Jr [15pts] and BYB Finals MVP Quinton Husband [16pts] paced the Cobras with a balanced attack with 2026 BYB League MVP Max Kimberley providing interior toughness with 12 pts, 7 rebs, and 2 blocks.
