The 2026 cricket season commenced at Somerset Cricket Club with a high-scoring Champion of Champions double-header, resulting in titles for Southampton Rangers and St. David’s Cricket Club.

The opening day was highlighted by the first century of the season from PHC’s Davin Dill and a rapid unbeaten 90 from Ricardo Brangman.

First Division: Southampton Rangers 222 PHC 0/0

Southampton Rangers secured the First Division silverware following a 50-run victory over PHC.

Southampton Rangers batted first, posting a total of 222-9. Nacori Smith led the scoring with an unbeaten 65 runs from 49 deliveries, a performance that included seven boundaries and one six.

In response, PHC reached 172-5 in their allotted overs. Davin Dill recorded a historic 103 not out from 54 balls, marking the first century of the 2026 season. Dill’s innings featured eight fours and eight sixes. He was supported by Charles Trott, who contributed 52 runs.

Despite the individual performances from Dill and Trott, PHC fell short of the required run rate. Donté Brangman was the most effective bowler for the Rangers, finishing with figures of 2-7.

Premier Division: St. George’s Cricket Club 184/7 St. David’s Cricket Club 188/2

St. David’s Cricket Club claimed the Premier Division title with a dominant eight-wicket win over St. George’s Cricket Club.

St. George’s won the toss and elected to bat, finishing their innings at 184-7. Jonte Smith provided the bulk of the runs with 69 from 41 balls, including 10 fours and two sixes. Brian Hall led the St. David’s bowling attack, taking 2-23.

St. David’s reached the target efficiently, scoring 188-2 to end the match. Ricardo Brangman anchored the chase with an unbeaten 90 from 40 balls, hitting eight sixes during his stay at the crease. Isaiah O’Brien remained not out on 68, partnering with Brangman to secure the trophy for the St. David’s side.
