Bermuda Players Conclude CIAA Tennis Games
The 2026 CIAA Women’s Tennis Championships concluded for Bermuda’s representatives as Virginia State University and Johnson C. Smith University were defeated in the semi-final round, ending the title bids of Alexcie Burrows, Airez Gilbert-Simons, and Nadhira Durham.
The losses for Alexcie Burrows and Airez Gilbert-Simons ended Bermudian involvement in the tournament after a week that featured three players from the island in the championship bracket.
Alexcie Burrows and Virginia State fell 4-0 to Shaw University. The Trojans, who advanced to the final four following a shutout victory in the quarter-finals, were unable to secure a point against the Shaw lineup.
Virginia State faced early difficulties in the doubles flight and could not recover during singles play before Shaw clinched the match. The result concludes a season for Burrows in which she consistently competed in the number five singles position for the Trojans.n.
