PLP Celebrates Bermudian Carifta Athletes
PLP congratulated Miles Outerbridge, Sanchez Smith, and the Girls’ Swimming Relay Team on their CARIFTA Games successes.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Progressive Labour Party joins all of Bermuda in congratulating Bermudian athletes Miles Outerbridge, the Girls’ Swimming Relay Team and Sanchez Smith on their performances at the CARIFTA Games in Grenada over the weekend.
“Miles Outerbridge won the Gold in the Under 20s 100 metres breaking Devon Bean’s 30 year record with a time of 10.29. This now makes Mr. Outerbridge the fourth fastest ever in the Regional competition.
“Bermudian swimmers Violet Smith, Teagan Mewitt, Marleigh Howes and Katherine Wheddon earned the Gold in the Girls 15-17 4×100 Metres Medley Relay.
“Sanchez Smith earned the Silver in the Boys Under 17 3000 Metres.”
PLP Chair Dawn Simmons remarked, “These achievements are a testament to their focus, dedication and sacrifice as they cemented Bermuda’s place on the world athletic stage.
“We congratulate all our athletes and recognize his coaches, his family, and everyone who helped them to attain these remarkable achievements.
“We wish them and the Bermuda Team much success as the CARIFTA Games continue.”
