2026 Kim Burns Pickleball Tournament Begins
The third annual Kim Burns Memorial Pickleball Tournament commenced at the W.E.R. Joell Tennis Stadium, concluding the opening day with round-robin play and the presentation of medals across several Women’s Doubles divisions.
In the Women’s 3.0 Open Division, Ni Suwari and Savira Wahy defeated Kirsten Wademan and Ana Abend 11-7, and later defeated Amanda Stewart and Cheria Morgan 11-4. In other divisional matches, Melanie Claude and Raveena Nayyar defeated Wademan and Abend 11-3, while Pamela Bardill and Amy Haynes also defeated Wademan and Abend 11-7.
Ni Made Suwariani and Savira Qonital Wahyuning won the gold medal in the 3.0 Open category, followed by Wademan and Abend with the silver, and Bardill and Haynes taking the bronze. In the 3.0 50+ age division, Kerri McKittrick and Frances Kyrikos earned gold, while Ruth Stovell and Angela Edwards won silver.
Competition in the 3.5 Open and 50+ A Division featured Kelly Reeves and Fiona Donaldson defeating LaVerne Stowe and Cayla Cross 11-9. Angie Lodge and Alexis Lodge defeated Beckie Bart and Julie Matthew Borchardt 11-6. Stowe and Cross later defeated the Lodge pairing 11-6, while Reeves and Donaldson defeated the Lodges 11-6.
In the 3.5 Open division, Pearl Ingram and Ivanne Demiar secured the gold medal. Sarah Fox and Sue Chiappa won the silver, and Stowe and Cross earned the bronze.
In the 3.5 B Division match play, Ingram and Demiar defeated Fox and Chiappa 11-5. Fox and Chiappa had previously defeated Natalie Chaves and Niamh Mac Namara 11-2. Fox and Chiappa also competed in the 3.5 50+ division, where they won the gold medal, while Julie Matthews-Borchardt and Becky Bart earned the silver.
The tournament is scheduled to continue with mixed doubles competition.
