Ball Hockey: CG Defeat Spine & Sport
The Bermuda Ball Hockey Winter League Play-off Final is level at 1-1 after CG defeated Spine & Sport 8-7 in overtime at the PCC Hockey Rink.
The match featured 15 total goals and required sudden-death overtime after the teams finished regulation tied 7-7.
CG’s Dallas Montgomery scored twice in the first period, while Spine & Sport’s Jake Fenske responded with two goals of his own. Jeremy Estey also scored for CG in the opening period as CG led 3-2 after the first intermission.
In the second period, Montgomery completed a hat-trick and Owen Siese added another goal for CG to extend the lead to 5-2. Fenske completed his hat-trick for Spine & Sport, and Christopher Merritt added a goal to reduce the deficit to 5-4.
Andrew Leavy scored early in the third period to push CG ahead 6-4, before Spine & Sport responded with goals from Johnny Talbot and Mathieu Desjardins to level the match at 6-6.
Jeff Morash then put CG ahead late in regulation, but Spine & Sport’s Curran Trenouth equalized in the closing stages to force overtime at 7-7.
Pete Brodsky scored the winning goal in overtime for CG, securing the 8-7 victory and levelling the series at 1-1 ahead of Game Three.
