Bus Service Advisory Issued For Bermuda Day

The Department of Public Transportation has announced road closures, bus detours, and service changes on Friday [May 22] due to Bermuda Day events.

A Government spokesperson said, “The Department of Public Transportation wishes to advise the public that several road closures and traffic diversions will be in effect on Friday, May 22, 2026, due to the Bermuda Day Half Marathon Derby, Bicycle Races, and Bermuda Day Parade.

“As a result, bus detours, delays, and temporary service adjustments are expected throughout the day, particularly for services travelling into the City of Hamilton from the west during the morning hours.

“The Department thanks the public for its patience and understanding.

Central Terminal Access

“Between 7:30 a.m. and until the detour is lifted by the Bermuda Police Service, King Street will temporarily operate as a two-way road for buses to facilitate access to the Central Terminal. Buses will access the terminal from the northern side only.

Route Detours and Service Changes

Route 1

“Inbound Route 1 buses will travel along their regular routes until they reach East Broadway, right up Spurling Hill, right on King Street, left on Victoria Street to Central Terminal.

“Outbound Route 1 buses will reverse this route.

Route 3

“Inbound Route 3 buses will travel along their regular route until they reach Reid Street, right on King Street, left on Victoria Street to Central Terminal.

“Outbound Route 3 buses will reverse this route.

Route 4

“Inbound Route 4 buses will travel via North Shore Road, right on Berkeley Hill, left on St. Johns Road, right on Woodlands Road, left on Dundonald Street, and right on Washington Street to Central Terminal.

“Outbound Route 4 buses will reverse this route.

Route 7

“Inbound Route 7 buses will travel along their regular route until they reach East Broadway, right up Spurling Hill, right on King Street, left on Victoria Street to Central Terminal.

“Outbound Route 7 buses will reverse this route.

Route 8

“Inbound Route 8 buses will travel along their regular route and upon reaching Paget, bypass Strawberry Hill, and continue to Trimingham Hill and proceed along East Broadway, right up Spurling Hill, right on King Street, left on Victoria Street to Central Terminal.

“Please note:

  • The 8:45 a.m. inbound trip is cancelled.
  • The 7:45 a.m. outbound trip will travel as far as T. N. Tatem Middle School where it will terminate.
  • The 8:45 a.m. outbound trip will travel as far as T. N. Tatem Middle School where it will hold until it receives clearance from authorities to continue.

“Outbound Route 8 buses will leave Central Terminal via Victoria Street, right on King Street, left on Reid Street, down Spurling Hill onto East Broadway, and travel along their regular route.

Route 9

“Inbound and outbound Route 9 services are cancelled for the duration of the road closures.

Routes 10 and 11

“Inbound Route 10 and 11 buses will operate via North Shore Road until Berkeley Hill, left on St. Johns Road, right on Woodlands Road, left on Dundonald Street, and right on Washington Street to Central Terminal.
Outbound Route 10 and 11 buses will reverse this route.

Additional Advisory

“Due to road closures, Palmetto Road in its entirety will not be serviced.

“The Department of Public Transportation thanks the public for its cooperation and wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable Bermuda Day holiday.”
