Traffic Advisory For Bermuda Day Events
The Ministry of Public Works and Environment issued two traffic advisories in advance of Bermuda Day.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works and Environment advises the public of traffic arrangements for Bermuda Day events taking place on Friday, 22 May 2026.
“The Ministry’s notice should be read together with the separate notice from the City of Hamilton, which is also attached.
“The Ministry notice covers the event routes and traffic arrangements outside Hamilton. For details about road closures, traffic restrictions and parking controls in Hamilton, please refer to the Corporation of Hamilton notice.
“The Ministry notice covers several Bermuda Day activities, including the Sinclair Packwood Memorial Cycle Race, the Bermuda Day Half Marathon Derby, the Junior Classic Run and the Bermuda Day Parade.
“Motorists should expect delays and diversions on parts of the following roads:
- Somerset Road, Somerset Bridge and Middle Road
- Burnt House Hill, Harbour Road, The Lane and Crow Lane
- Chapel Road, Trimingham Hill and Stowe Hill
- Pitts Bay Road, Canal Road, Cedar Avenue, Marsh Folly Road, Dutton Avenue and Black Watch Pass
“The main traffic control period will be between 7:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., with some restrictions beginning earlier or remaining in place later in the day. Dutton Avenue will be closed from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
“No parking restrictions will also be in effect on several roads along the event routes.
“Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, use alternative routes where possible, and follow the direction of the Bermuda Police Service and event officials.”
