Focus To Host Root & Rise Open House

Focus Counselling Services will host an open house on May 15 at its Barry Road location in St. George’s, inviting the public to explore the Root & Rise Healing Earth Project and learn how the programme supports recovery, sustainability, and community growth.

A spokesperson said, “The public is invited to Focus Counselling Services’ Open House on Friday, May 15, at 37 Barry Road, St. George’s from 10 am until 3 pm.

“Explore 3.2 acres of coastal beauty and see recovery grow.

“Join FCS and see the ‘Root & Rise Healing Earth Project’. Recovery, growth, and community come alive in the soil, the program, and the people rebuilding every day.

“Walk through a space built on the belief: recovery is a beginning, not an end. Meet people in recovery, hopeful families, and community members finding purpose. See how our permaculture model blends healing, sustainability, and opportunity.”

“Root & Rise was born out of a simple truth: we cannot keep doing the same thing and expect a different result,” explained Leslie Grant, FCS Executive Director. “If we are serious about reducing relapse, recidivism, homelessness, and hopelessness, then recovery must be connected to purpose, work, land, food, community, and healing.

“Root & Rise isn’t just a program—it’s a movement. We walk beside people in recovery while restoring the land. Through food security, reforestation, social enterprise, and life skills, we help people rebuild their lives and give back to Bermuda.

“Why now? Because the need is urgent. Our community needs stronger recovery supports, our people need meaningful opportunities, and our island needs sustainable solutions. Root & Rise brings these needs together in one bold vision: restoring hope, restoring lives, and restoring the earth — one person, one seed, and one community at a time.”
