Pembroke Panthers & Hamilton Hurricanes Win
The Pembroke Panthers and Hamilton Parish Hurricanes secured victories on the opening day of the Bermuda Smash Invitational at the National Sports Centre.
In the first match of the double-header, the Pembroke Panthers defeated the Smiths Sixers by seven wickets.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Smiths Sixers scored 154 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Macai Simmons led the Sixers with an unbeaten 41 runs. Jermal Proctor took 2 wickets for 19 runs in three overs for the Panthers.
In response, the Pembroke Panthers reached 155 runs for 3 wickets to win the match. Gerhard Erasmus led the chase with 98 runs, while Kwasi James took 2 wickets for 34 runs for the Sixers.
In the second match of the day, the Hamilton Parish Hurricanes defeated the Sandys Spartans by five wickets.
Batting first, the Sandys Spartans scored 156 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Kamau Leverock top-scored for the Spartans with 57 runs, while Raj Nannan took 3 wickets for 20 runs from his four overs for the Hurricanes.
The Hamilton Parish Hurricanes reached the target, scoring 159 runs for 5 wickets to secure the win. Quentin Sampson led the batting performance with 76 runs. Leverock also took 2 wickets for 32 runs with the ball for the Spartans.
