A 22-year-old man, who was riding while disqualified, was arrested after failing to stop for police, colliding with one officer on a police motorcycle and later causing his unmanned motorcycle to strike a second officer.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 11:55 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, police officers were conducting stop-and-search operations along Crow Lane and Lane Hill in Pembroke.

“Officers attempted to stop a motorcycle rider who failed to comply and subsequently collided with an officer who was on a police motorcycle.

“The rider, later identified as a 22-year-old male, continued along the roadway before making his way onto Crossland Lane, Pembroke, where he dismounted from the motorcycle while it was still in motion.

“The unmanned motorcycle then struck a second police officer, causing him multiple injuries. The officer was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment and was later discharged, with further medical assessments scheduled.

“Following a short foot pursuit, the subject was arrested for several traffic-related offences and taken into custody.

“Subsequent checks revealed the male was riding while disqualified.

“He is expected to appear before the courts in due course.”

He is a product of his environment. The Bermuda Police Service stopped regular enforcement of traffic laws 20 or more years ago.

What did people think would happen in such circumstances?
