Physiotherapy Association Aids End-To-End Walk
Volunteers from the Bermuda Physiotherapy Association donated their time and expertise to support walkers along the route of the End-to-End charity walk.
Dr. Kim Watkins said, “Bermuda’s iconic End-to-End charity walk once again brought the island together in a display of community spirit. This year saw 3,965 participants, the largest showing ever in the event’s 39-year history as people traversed Bermuda’s picturesque railway trails and coastal roads. The event was made even more memorable by the selfless dedication of volunteers from the Bermuda Physiotherapy Association, who donated their time and expertise to support walkers along the route.
“Under the guidance of Maureen Ryan and Ciara Flanagan, who played a key role in organising the Association’s involvement, a team of physiotherapists, including Jill Brydon, Raina Steer-Pitcher, Stephen Lightbourne, Kate Kyme, and Nicola MacDougall, were on hand at the Somerset bridge pitstop. They provided much-needed advice, injury prevention, and hands-on treatment to participants, helping to keep spirits high and feet moving toward the finish line.
“Nicola MacDougall, serving the community both as a physiotherapist and in her role with Open Airways, worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone, especially those with respiratory challenges, had the support they needed to complete the walk. Her efforts, alongside the rest of the physiotherapy team, were instrumental in helping participants of all abilities reach their goals.
“The Bermuda End-to-End is more than just a walk; it’s a celebration of community and the power of people coming together for a cause. The commitment of organisations like the Bermuda Physiotherapy Association shows how vital local support is in making community events accessible and successful. As the sun set on another successful End-to-End, the gratitude from walkers was clear. The support and encouragement from the physiotherapy volunteers made the journey a little easier and strengthened the bonds that make Bermuda’s community events truly special.”
