Somersfield Claims Three Badminton Golds
Somersfield Academy won three of the four gold medals at the 2026 Bermuda School Sports Federation Middle School Girls Badminton Championships.
Somersfield’s Emmalyn Tothong won two gold medals in the under-13 division. In the singles final, Tothong defeated teammate Hanako Kitade 15-2, 15-5.
Tothong later teamed with Jeanne Prabis to win the under-13 doubles title, defeating the Warwick Academy pair of Ava Swart and Madeliene McBain 15-5. Somersfield’s Hanako Kitade and Sophie Ferrar finished third.
Somersfield also claimed the over-13 singles title, with Kate Purcell defeating teammate Aniah Tucker 15-5, 15-7 in an all-Somersfield final.
Warwick Academy earned the over-13 doubles title after Devi Samuels and Annabelle Shah defeated Somersfield’s Anya-Aeleishe Pearman and Aniah Tucker 15-9 in the final.
Earlier, Samuels secured third place in the over-13 singles division with a 15-12, 14-16, 15-7 victory over Shah.
In the over-13 doubles third-place match, Somersfield’s Kate Purcell and Della Masters defeated the Saltus Grammar School pair of Lauren Simons and Sophie Lacasse 15-3.
