Jordan-Whitter Named Hampton Coach
Jovan Jordan-Whitter has been appointed head coach of the men’s and women’s tennis programmes at Hampton University, an NCAA Division I institution in Norfolk, Virginia.
Jordan-Whitter joins Hampton after serving as head coach of the varsity tennis programmes at the University of New England [UNE].
Hired in August 2024 to launch UNE’s tennis programmes, Jordan-Whitter recruited players ahead of the women’s inaugural varsity season in the fall of 2025 and the men’s first campaign in the spring of 2026.
The UNE women posted a 12-7 record in the 2025-26 season and qualified for the Conference of New England Tournament, while the men finished with a 5-9 record.
Before joining UNE, Jordan-Whitter coached at the University of Massachusetts Boston and worked with the Bermuda national tennis teams.
“We would like to thank Jovan for his service to UNE,” Heather Davis, UNE’s director of athletics, said.
“He played an instrumental role in the launch of our varsity tennis programmes and leaves them well-positioned for success in the years to come. We wish him well at the next phase of his career.”
As a player, Jordan-Whitter played for Bermuda’s Davis Cup teams from 2001-04 and again in 2017.
Hampton University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Anthony D. Henderson said, “Jovan brings a dynamic combination of leadership, international experience, and a proven ability to build and elevate programs
“We are excited to welcome him to Hampton University. His track record of success, particularly in developing student-athletes and establishing competitive programs from the ground up, aligns perfectly with our vision for the future of Hampton tennis. We believe his leadership will energize both programs, enhance our competitiveness within the conference, and position us for sustained success on and off the court.”
