Danté Leverock said he is honoured to have joined the Bermuda national football team coaching staff.

Leverock, a former Bermuda captain, travelled with the team for their international friendly match against Cape Verde at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut, at the weekend.

Bermuda were defeated 3-0 by Cape Verde, who have qualified for the upcoming World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

“I am honoured to have joined the Bermuda men’s national team coaching staff for the first time after my playing career,” the Dandy Town defender said.

“Representing Bermuda as a player was one of the greatest privileges of my life, and now being able to contribute from the other side of the touchline marks a special moment and the beginning of a new chapter in my football journey.

“During our trip, we visited Rhode Island FC and participated in an international friendly against Cape Verde.

“Experiences like this underscore the importance of learning, growing and challenging ourselves at the highest levels of the game.

“I extend my gratitude to the players, staff and everyone involved for making this experience memorable.”

The 34-year-old, who also runs the DaRock Elite Academy for junior players, said coaching has already provided him with a new perspective on the game.

“I look forward to continuing my development in this role while helping the next generation of Bermudian footballers reach their potential,” he added.
