Panthers Win Bermuda Smash Invitational
The Pembroke Panthers defeated the Sandys Spartans by 58 runs to win the 2026 Bermuda Smash Invitational title at the National Sports Centre this weekend.
After losing the toss and being sent in to bat, the Pembroke Panthers posted a total of 217 runs for the loss of two wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Gerhard Erasmus scored 104 runs, hitting four boundaries and eight sixes. Pembroke captain Dominic Sabir remained not out on 79 runs off 49 balls, hitting seven boundaries and three sixes during a second-wicket partnership with Erasmus. Michael Agard was the most effective bowler for the Sandys Spartans, taking one wicket for 22 runs in his three overs.
In reply, the Sandys Spartans were restricted to 159 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs. Chad Bowes led the scoring for the Sandys Spartans with 64 runs off 41 balls, including nine boundaries and one six. Delray Rawlins scored 39 runs. Pembroke bowler Jermal Proctor took three wickets for 28 runs in his four overs to limit the Sandys Spartans’ scoring momentum.
