School Activated ‘Lockdown Procedures’
[Updating] The Department of Education advised that “Victor Scott School has activated its lockdown procedures following reports of suspected gunshots in the vicinity of the campus.”
A spokesperson said, “The safety and well-being of students and staff remain our highest priority. School administrators are working closely with the relevant authorities, and all necessary measures have been taken to ensure that students and staff are secure while the situation is being assessed.
“Parents and guardians will continue to receive updates through official school communication channels as more information becomes available. We urge the public to avoid speculation and to allow the authorities to carry out their investigations.
The Department appreciates the cooperation and understanding of the school community during this time.”
We have asked the Department of Education and the police for additional information and will update as able.
Update 3.03pm: The government said, “The lockdown has been lifted at the school. Any further information regarding the report will be provided by the Bermuda Police Service.”
