Committee Of 25 Donates Play Equipment
Children attending Tomorrow’s Voices’ summer program will enjoy some new outdoor fun this summer thanks to a donation of a trampoline and basketball hoop from the Committee of 25.
A spokesperson said, “The donation reflects the Committee of 25′s longstanding commitment to supporting Bermuda’s children with medical, developmental and physical challenges. While the charity is best known for helping families access essential medical equipment, travel and related supports, it also works alongside community organisations to make sure children have opportunities to play, learn and simply enjoy being children.
“Tomorrow’s Voices provides specialist education and support for autistic children and their families. Its summer program gives children a safe and supportive place to build friendships, develop new skills and enjoy a range of activities during the school holidays.
“The new trampoline and basketball hoop will give children even more ways to stay active, have fun and play together.”
Miriam Shaya King, Chair of the Committee of 25, said: “For almost 75 years, the Committee of 25 has been there for Bermuda families when they need us most. Sometimes that means helping with medical equipment or therapies. Sometimes it’s about making sure children have the chance to enjoy experiences that support their development and simply have fun. We’re delighted to support Tomorrow’s Voices and the important work they do with children diagnosed with autism and their families.”
Dr. Jahnae Harvey, Executive Director at Tomorrow’s Voices, said: “Play is like a universal language among children, with this said, is one of the most important ways children learn. For many children diagnosed with autism, activities like bouncing and ball games help build confidence, coordination and communication skills while supporting their physical and emotional wellbeing. Having equipment like this assists us in contriving motivation and allows our clients to keep learning while they’re having fun – and that’s exactly what great summer programs should do.”
Stacy Hill, Funding and Development Officer at Tomorrow’s Voices, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the Committee of 25 for this donation. Outdoor play is an important part of our summer program, and these new additions will be enjoyed by many clients this summer and for years to come.
