Government On US Travel, CARICOM & More
“There is no basis for the suggestion that CARICOM membership would affect Bermuda’s visa-free travel to the United States or United States Customs pre-clearance,” the government said.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Government notes recent public statements regarding full membership of the Caribbean Community [CARICOM] and its implications for Bermuda’s travel arrangements with the United States. For the public record, there is no basis for the suggestion that CARICOM membership would affect Bermuda’s visa-free travel to the United States or United States Customs pre-clearance.
“Bermuda’s visa-free access to the United States operates under bilateral arrangements between the United Kingdom and the United States Government. United States Customs pre-clearance operates under a separate bilateral framework, determined by the United States Government. CARICOM plays no role in either arrangement.
“The Government urges the public to rely on verified information. The forthcoming White Paper will provide comprehensive analysis, including the full legal position on travel arrangements, as part of the Government’s commitment to ensuring that Bermudians are fully informed before any determination is made.
“The public consultation closed on 31 May 2026. The White Paper is in preparation.”
Given how opaque and evasive the government is at answering even the most basic of questions, I’m inclined to be believe the opposite of everything they say is true, especially as it related to CARICOM.
Due diligence is not something the PLP has a good track record with.
All you need to know is that our PLP Government has already decided that Bermuda will jojin CARICOM as a full member, consequences be damned.
Very true sadly. Let’s mark this day where they think we will stay Visa free when we open the floodgates to all the Visa countries to come and work and live as they please.
Only God can help us.
Whether Bermuda retains its visa free status or not is not up to Bermuda. That privilege can be taken away overnight and the US does not have to give a reason at all.
It will be bye bye to US pre clearance in Bermuda and hello to long lines at US Border Protection at the gateway airports. No more strolling off the plane, grabbing your bags and out the door into the USA you go. No more arriving at a US domestic gate for a stroll to the next domestic gate for your connecting flight. Get in that long line for US immigration first. No more quick layovers.
How about it, is Caricom worth the risk of losing the pre clearance convenience?

I recognize as a born Bermudian with family connections in the Caribbean I would like to share my concerns, for those of you who don’t realize this we have just last month officially come out of slavery last month, by the power of of the USA Government. This was announced in May 2026.
I to was very surprised thinking I was a free person, however it was discovered recently we were put backed into slavery this time it was half the world through the system of the Cabal powers they have achieved since President Kennedy’s death into todays politics, and no one knew it. It stared out with the change of a GOLD Backed currency To a Fiat currencies introduce by the business community a monetary system, that had no value.
The businessman of that day decided they wanted to control the world a desire they had from the sinking of the Titanic, as three busines men aboard here was against it, there was other events of people today who have killed people for the same reason. Today just last month they almost finalize their goal, and was blocked by the Trump Administration. Their goal was to overtake the world enslaving all people under a certain financial racket. My question is why do we want join other countries when it should a natural desire to help each other any way. Plus we need to take time out decide if we want to separate and still do what is right.
Finally if one just got a divorce why would one be anxious to get married so soon again.
