Governor Cheering In Bermuda In Glasgow
Governor Andrew Murdoch is in Glasgow, Scotland, supporting Bermuda’s team at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, where the island is being represented in athletics, track cycling and swimming.
Bermuda’s athletics contingent features Jah-Nhai Perinchief, Norre Robinson and Nirobi Smith-Mills in the men’s events, with Caitlyn Bobb, Sakari Famous and Tiara DeRosa competing in the women’s events, while Jessica Lewis will make Bermuda’s first appearance in para athletics at the Commonwealth Games. The athletics coaches and managers are Marissa Chew, Brian Wellman and Lori Lewis. Conor White will become Bermuda’s first Commonwealth Games track cyclist, supported by coach and manager Chequan Richardson. The swimming team includes Elijah Daley, Jack Harvey and Sam Williamson in the men’s events, along with Elan Daley and Emma Harvey in the women’s events, with Rebecca Fairbairn serving as coach and manager. Donna Raynor is the Chef de Mission, Jarita Vickers is the team leader and Aaron Wharton is the team physiotherapist.
“These Games represent a proud and historic moment for Bermuda,” Donna Raynor, Chef de Mission for Team Bermuda, previously said. “Alongside our strong and experienced athletics and swimming squads, we are especially proud to see Jessica and Conor break new ground for our country in Para Athletics and Track Cycling. This team reflects the depth and growing diversity of sport in Bermuda, and we look forward to supporting every athlete as they represent our island on the world stage in Glasgow.”
Governor Murdoch is himself a keen runner and competed in the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge earlier this year, taking on the mile, 10K and half-marathon events.
