St. George’s Council Awards 2026 Scholarships
The St. George’s Parish Council awarded its 2026 scholarship to Aaron Lugo Jr. and a bursary to Christia Lugo-Elibox in support of their higher education.
A spokesperson said, “Again this year, the St. George’s Parish Council gathered, not just to discuss budgets or bylaws, but to deliberate over the future promise in St. George’s.
“From a stack of hopeful applications, one applicant in particular, resonated with the Council’s Scholarship Committee. The 2026 sole scholarship of five thousand dollars [$5K] was awarded to recipient, Mr. Aaron Lugo Jr., a young man from our own streets, now chasing his dream, as a prospective freshman at Howard University in Washington, DC.
“A one thousand dollar [$1K] bursary was also presented to Ms. Christia Lugo-Elibox, who will be attending Plymouth Marjon University.
“There were many commendable applications and we thank each student for applying. Although some were not successful during the application process, the St. George’s Parish Council wishes all students entering or furthering their education all the best, as they navigate their educational journey.
“The St. George’s Parish Council has always known, that helping to educate even one child, lifts a whole parish and we are committed and delighted to be able to play a small part in this process.”
