Ocean View Cup Tied After Opening Day

The Carlsberg Ocean View Cup is tied at three points each after the opening day of competition between the Eastern and Western Parishes.

The tournament features the top 12 finishers from the Eastern Parishes and the top 12 from the Western Parishes based on the Johnnie Walker qualification standings.

Ebonie Cox and Vincent Minors gave the East the opening point with a win over Steven Almeida and Donovan Livingston.

The second match ended in a draw, with Darriek Douglas and Kennedy Nanette of the East sharing the points with the Western pairing of Nick Jones and Dennis Joell, leaving the East ahead 1.5-0.5.

Camiko Smith and Alan Lugo then defeated Calvin Richardson and Sinclair Trott to level the overall score.

Jonathan James and Aaron Adams followed with a victory over Damon Smith and George O’Brien Jr to put the West ahead 2.5-1.5.

The East responded as Kavon Trott and Leroy Robinson defeated Ajunte Tuzo and Marcelos Thomes to level the match at 2.5 points each.

The final match of the day ended in a draw, with Samuel Robinson and Phil Talbot of the East sharing the points with Oscar Riley and Henry Ascento of the West, leaving the overall score tied at 3-3 heading into the second day.
