Barnett & Somerville Compete In Honduras
Bermudian volleyball players Benjamín Barnett and Connor Somerville competed in their opening two pool matches at the seventh stop of the 2026 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour on Tabyana Beach in Honduras.
Following the tournament’s preliminary inquiry and team registrations, the 16-team men’s tournament began with pairings from 13 nations divided into four pools. Barnett and Somerville are competing in Pool B against teams from Costa Rica, the United States, and Canada.
In their opening match, the Bermudian duo lost 2-0 to Costa Rica’s Julián Araya and Stanley Grant. The Costa Rican pairing won the match 21-11, 21-10 in 42 minutes.
Barnett and Somerville were then defeated 2-0 by the United States pairing of Devin Pérez and Wesley Jensen in their second match of the afternoon. The American duo won the first set 21-16 and completed the victory with a 21-15 win in the second set, concluding the match in 43 minutes.
The Bermudian team will conclude the pool stage against Canada’s Louis Charbonneau and Henry Heider.
