The City of Hamilton held their annual Summer Sunday: City Funday, featuring free games, attractions and live entertainment.
A spokesperson said, “The City of Hamilton welcomed more than 1,500 residents and visitors to Victoria Park on Sunday for its annual Summer Sunday: City Funday, with families turning out in force to enjoy an afternoon of free entertainment and activities.
“From the moment the gates opened, park-goers enjoyed carnival-style games, inflatables, giant games, ziplining, splash attractions, competitions, live entertainment and exciting prizes, creating a memorable day of summer fun for attendees of all ages.
“A lively entertainment programme featured performances by Prestege and Soul Standard Band, with hosts Ed Christopher and Patrina ‘Power Girl’ Paynter and DJ Scoobay keeping the energy high throughout the afternoon.
“The event also provided a welcome boost for local businesses, with food and beverage vendors serving a steady stream of attendees throughout the afternoon. In addition, the City engaged local entertainers, activity providers and event suppliers, ensuring the event supported a wide range of Bermudian businesses while delivering a free day of family fun.
“The day’s festivities also included Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda’s ‘How Much Would You Pay to See...’ fundraiser, which has generated $6,000 so far for the charity’s mentoring programmes.”
Lorna Hayward, Senior Events Coordinator for the City of Hamilton, thanked everyone who helped make the day such a success: “Seeing more than 1,500 people enjoying Victoria Park together was incredibly rewarding. Summer Sunday is all about creating opportunities for families to spend quality time together while supporting our local entertainers, activity providers, food and beverage vendors, and community partners.
“Thank you to everyone who came out and made the day such a success, and to all of our performers, vendors, sponsors and volunteers for their incredible support. I’d also like to give a special thank you to everyone who took part in our apple bobbing and Pringles eating competitions—they were a huge hit—and to BGA for generously providing the items that made those activities possible. Events like these simply wouldn’t happen without the support of our community.”
