Western Parishes Win Carlsberg Ocean View Cup
The Western Parishes secured the Carlsberg Ocean View Cup title with a commanding performance on the final day, defeating the Eastern Parishes 14.5-9.5 overall after winning the closing singles session 9-3.
The Western Parishes entered the final day with the competition still in the balance but dominated the singles matches to claim local bragging rights and the trophy.
The Eastern Parishes made the stronger start when Kennedy Nanette defeated Dennis Joell to take an early lead. The Western Parishes responded as Steven Almeida beat Vincent Minors to level the score before Aaron Adams defeated Sinclair Trott to put the West ahead.
Kavon Trott restored parity for the East with a victory over Alan Lugo, making it 2-2. Samuel Robinson and Donovan Livingston then halved their match, leaving the teams level before the Western Parishes took control.
Ajunte Tuzo defeated Phil Talbot to give the West a 3.5-2.5 advantage, and Oscar Riley followed with a win over George O’Brien Jr. Leroy Robinson and Marcelos Thomas halved their match to make the score 5-3, but the Western Parishes won the remaining four matches.
Henry Ascento defeated Calvin Richardson, Jonathan James overcame Ebonie Cox, Camiko Smith beat Damon Smith, and Nick Jones closed out the day with a victory over Darriek Douglas, completing a 9-3 singles success and securing the overall 14.5-9.5 victory for the Western Parishes.
