Bermuda Included In ‘Exotic Marathons’ List
The Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge has been featured by Forbes as one of the world’s more unusual destination running events, with the publication including Bermuda in its new feature on “10 Exotic Marathons—The World’s Most Surprising Running Races.”
The Forbes feature, published on August 26, focuses on races that can double as travel experiences, with Bermuda appearing alongside events in destinations including Kenya, St. Helena, Thailand and Alaska.
In highlighting the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge, Forbes pointed to the island’s scenery, frequent ocean views and mild climate, as well as the ferry journey from Hamilton to the marathon start at the Royal Naval Dockyard. The publication also highlighted the Goslings-sponsored “Rum Stops” as one of the distinctive features of the Bermuda event.
The other events featured by Forbes were the Lewa Safari Marathon in Kenya, the Christmas Island Marathon in Australia, the St. Helena Marathon, the Dead Sea Marathon in Israel, the Haulin’ Aspen Marathon in Oregon, the Laguna Phuket Marathon in Thailand, the EVA Air Run in Taipei, the Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon in Louisville and the Juneau Marathon in Alaska. The races were highlighted for distinctive features ranging from safari wildlife and remote island settings to overnight running, unusual terrain and scenic courses.
The 2027 Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge is scheduled to take place from January 15 to January 17, with Dame Flora Duffy previously announced as an honorary guest speaker for the weekend. The three-day race weekend includes a Friday evening mile in Hamilton, a Saturday 10K and the half and full marathons on Sunday, with participants able to compete across the weekend to complete the Bermuda Triangle Challenge.
