Cricket: Warwick, St George’s & PHC Win
An unbeaten double century from Alex Brown and a five-wicket haul by Rahul Sampra highlighted the latest round of domestic 50-over cricket in Bermuda.
Brown scored 203 not out as Warwick Workmen’s Club defeated St David’s Cricket Club, while Sampra led St George’s Cricket Club to victory over Willow Cuts. PHC also recorded a First Division win against Somerset Bridge Recreation Club.
Premier Division: Warwick Beat St David’s By 105 Runs
Warwick Workmen’s Club scored 391 for three from their 50 overs before restricting St David’s Cricket Club to 286 for nine at Lord’s.
Brown led Warwick’s batting with an unbeaten 203 from 149 deliveries, hitting 21 fours and seven sixes. Luke Horan added 107 from 97 balls, including seven fours and four sixes, while Naquan Smith took one for 29 for St David’s.
Brian Hall top-scored for St David’s with 86 from 67 balls, including seven sixes, while Derrick Brangman made 57 from 41 deliveries and struck five sixes.
Seth Campbell led the Warwick bowling attack with four for 48 from 9.3 overs as his side completed a 105-run victory.
Premier Division: St George’s Beat Willow Cuts By 10 Wickets
St George’s Cricket Club recorded a ten-wicket victory over Willow Cuts at Wellington Oval.
Willow Cuts were dismissed for 43, with Shaquille Bean their only batter to reach double figures, scoring 12.
Sampra returned figures of five for 10 from 5.5 overs for St George’s, who required just 2.5 overs to reach their target.
Zachary Edmund scored an unbeaten 35 as St George’s finished on 44 without loss.
First Division: PHC Beat Somerset Bridge By 65 Runs
PHC defeated Somerset Bridge Recreation Club by 65 runs at White Hill Field.
Batting first, PHC scored 252 for eight from their 50 overs. Charles Trott made 80 from 72 deliveries, including eight sixes, while Davin Dill contributed 74 from 103 balls.
Joshua Gilbert led the Somerset Bridge bowling with three for 48 from ten overs.
Somerset Bridge finished on 187 for eight in reply, with Gilbert completing an all-round performance by scoring 67 from 70 deliveries.
Trott took three for 21 from 7.5 overs to complete his own all-round contribution and help PHC secure the victory.
