Erica Hawley Finishes 18th In Rio World Cup
Bermuda’s Erica Hawley placed 18th in the elite women’s race at the 2026 World Triathlon Cup Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
Hawley completed the sprint-distance event in 59min 32sec, finishing 1min 19sec behind Slovakia’s Zuzana Michalickova, who claimed the title in 58:13.
Kelly Wetteland of the United States placed second in 58:14, with Italy’s Beatrice Mallozzi finishing third in 58:16.
Hawley recorded a time of 11:06 for the 750-metre swim before completing the 20.8-kilometre bike section in 30:54.
She followed with a 16:33 time for the 5km run, the 12th-fastest running split of the race, to secure 18th place among over 45 elite athletes who took part.
The event marked World Triathlon’s return to Copacabana Beach, which hosted the triathlon competition at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
