HSBC Unveils New & Upgraded ATM Machines
HSBC Bermuda announced the “rollout of a new fleet of ATMs across the island, representing a significant investment in enhancing customers’ everyday banking experience. ”
A spokesperson said, “The upgraded machines deliver faster, more reliable self-service banking through improved technology and expanded functionality, making routine transactions easier and more convenient.
“The new ATMs feature advanced chip-enabled card readers, replacing the previous reliance on magnetic stripe technology to reduce card-reading errors and improve transaction reliability. Customers will also benefit from enhanced cash deposit capabilities, including upgraded immediate credit functionality that enables cash deposits to be credited to their account instantly, eliminating the need to queue at a teller for routine transactions.”
“We know our customers expect banking to fit seamlessly into their daily lives, whether they’re visiting a branch or using our self-service channels,” said Tanya Bule, HSBC Bermuda Head of International, Wealth and Premier Banking.
“This investment reflects our commitment to continually improving the experiences that matter most to our customers. By modernising our ATM network, we’re making everyday banking more reliable, more intuitive and giving customers greater confidence that they can access the services they need, when they need them.”
The spokesperson said, “The upgraded fleet supports a wide range of everyday banking services, including cash withdrawals, cash deposits, local cheque deposits, balance enquiries, account transfers, bill payments and PIN changes, giving customers greater flexibility to bank when and where it suits them.”
“Digital innovation continues to transform the way people bank, but convenient access to cash and everyday banking services remains an essential part of the customer experience,” Ms Bule added. “Our role is to ensure customers can choose how they bank with us, supported by technology that is secure, dependable and designed around their evolving needs.”
The spokesperson said, “This ATM rollout marks another step in the bank’s ongoing investment in delivering a modern, secure and convenient banking experience for customers across Bermuda.”

I am happy for this but the screens are very large with any one standing behind being able to see everything,
Yes, but what we really want is for HSBC Bermuda to enable Apple Pay and Google Pay, so we can use our phones and watches to pay for things rather than carting cards around.
Noel,
You do not need HSBC to do anything to use Apple Pay or Google Pay. Just go to Google, search those terms, sign up and soon Apple Pay or Google Pay will know about every penny you spend and will be able to sell that information accordingly.
Sadly, I do need HSBC Bermuda’s cooperation. If I try to add a Bermuda HSBC card to Apple Pay, I get the message ‘Your issuer does not yet offer support for this card’. With cards issued by overseas banks, it’s not a problem.
