Registration is now open for Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre’s three major fall fundraising events, giving the community three ways to get involved while helping ensure people across Bermuda can access the cancer services and support they need.

A spokesperson said, “The fall calendar includes the Allshores Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, MOvember Bermuda and the AXA XL Man on the Run 5K.

“While each event has its own focus, they share an important purpose: turning community participation into meaningful local impact. Funds raised stay in Bermuda, supporting cancer prevention and early detection, diagnostic imaging, cancer navigation, oncology nursing, oncology services and radiation therapy.

“Community support also helps Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre remove financial barriers to care. The Centre does not charge a co-pay for any of its services, regardless of a person’s financial circumstances or insurance status.”

“Taking part in one of these events is about much more than the day itself,” said Dr Chris Fosker, CEO and Medical Director of Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre. “When someone registers, fundraises, joins a team or encourages someone else to take part, they are helping us turn awareness into action. The money raised here stays here, helping us remove financial barriers to care so people can focus on their health and getting the care and support they need.”

Allshores Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

A spokesperson added, “This year marks 30 years since Bermuda’s first Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, a community movement that has brought thousands of people together in support of breast health and access to care.

“The Allshores Breast Cancer Awareness Walk continues that legacy, encouraging individuals, families, friends, schools and workplaces to come together while raising funds to support breast cancer prevention, early detection and access to services through Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre.

“Participants can register individually or create a team and invite others to join them.

MOvember Bermuda

“Throughout November, MOvember Bermuda challenges the community to change the conversation around men’s health and encourage men to take action for their health.

“Participants can grow a Mo, move, host an event or take on their own challenge, using their participation to start conversations, encourage men to take their health seriously and raise funds for local men’s health initiatives.

“Funds raised through MOvember Bermuda stay in Bermuda, supporting local men’s health initiatives through Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre and helping ensure people can access cancer services and support without financial barriers.

AXA XL Man on the Run 5K

“The AXA XL Man on the Run 5K brings the community together to put men’s health into action.

“Open to runners and walkers, the event encourages men, families, friends and colleagues to get moving while raising awareness of prevention, early detection and the importance of seeking help when something does not feel right.

“Together with MOvember Bermuda, the event helps keep men’s health conversations going and raises funds that support access to cancer services here in Bermuda.

Participation Makes an Impact

“Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre is a registered charity, and community support helps make equitable access to cancer care possible.

“In 2025, more than 11,250 patients used services at Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, with 2,589 people benefiting from the Equal Access Fund. The Centre provided $2.245 million in subsidised clinical services, helping ensure patients did not face a co-pay for services provided at the Centre.

“The impact extends beyond people receiving treatment at BCHC. Cancer Navigation is available to anyone in Bermuda diagnosed with cancer, whether or not they are a Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre patient, helping people and their families understand their diagnosis, connect with services and resources, and navigate the next steps in their cancer journey.

“Every registration, fundraising page, donation and volunteer hour helps make this work possible. Whether someone chooses to walk, run, grow a moustache, fundraise, volunteer or support a friend, their participation helps reduce the impact of cancer in Bermuda and keep essential services accessible to the community.

“Registration for all three events is now open. Visit cancer.bm to learn more, register and find ways to get involved.”
